David Ferguson has handled criminal defense cases ranging from public intoxication to aggravated murder. He defends clients through trial, on appeal, and into post-conviction proceedings.

In addition to his criminal defense work, David is the executive director of the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, he serves on the advisory committee to the Utah Supreme Court on criminal procedure, and he has presented on numerous seminars for defense attorneys both in Utah and nationally. He has published on the science of jury selection in criminal trials, and he has received the same training police officers have on standardized field sobriety tests for DUIs.

David has tried dozens of cases to trial, argued to the Utah Court of Appeals and Utah Supreme Court, and in addition to his criminal defense work, David has also had a successful background in extraordinary writs as well as commercial litigation, where he has handled cases involving securities, non-compete agreements, partnership disputes, and other business-related fall-outs. His background in commercial litigation gives David a unique view on criminal defense strategy.
